Community Health Assessment

The Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) and its advisory coalition are developing Allegheny County’s next Community Health Assessment (CHA). As part of this process, ACHD ran a health survey in late 2019 designed to help identify the priority health issues impacting local communities. Results from this survey will be included as part of the 2021 CHA, however, in recognition of the impacts 2020 has had on community residents, the Department created a supplemental survey to understand how health priorities may have changed due to the pandemic and racial justice movements. The survey is now closed.

When the study is complete, the CHA will serve as a living document of community health data to be used by local organizations and residents to support decision making, grant making, and health improvement strategies in Allegheny County. Supplemental survey results will be combined with the larger health survey conducted by ACHD in 2019 as well as a variety of other data sources. The CHA will be used to design a new Community Health Improvement Plan, which will outline goals and strategies to improve the health and well-being of all Allegheny County residents.
