Member: Budget & Finance, Economic Development & Housing, Health & Human Services, Parks, Government ReformA resident of West Mifflin, Bob Macey has integrated himself with various public service and nonprofit organizations in the Mon Valley area for more than three decades. As well as being elected to Allegheny County Council for District 9, Bob is on the board of the Duquesne / West Mifflin Rotary, the Regional Chamber Alliance Foundation, and the West Mifflin Community Foundation. His position as Director of Business Development and Community Relations for Century Heritage Federal Credit Union has also given him unique exposure to the problems touching citizens of former mill communities. He was a recipient of the Mon Valley Initiative Jo DeBolt “Volunteer of the Year” and recognized for his volunteer activities by the Regional Chamber Alliance.
Council Member Macey worked in the United States Steel Works in Duquesne for nearly 15 years after graduating high school in the late 1960s. Active through his union to the plight of area families as many local mills closed in the early 1980s, he helped distribute food packages and establish with various social service and government organizations vocational retraining and community revitalization projects. His volunteer efforts to assist those who wish to better themselves and their communities continue today.
After the Duquesne mill closed, Bob helped develop himself for a new career by attending classes at Pennsylvania State University and the Community College of Allegheny County. He currently holds an undergraduate degree in business management and is a Certified Marketing Executive and licensed Appraiser in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Aside from spending time with his wife, Denise, four children and four grandchildren, Bob is a licensed commercial pilot. He is a past Board Member of the Allegheny County Airport Authority and serves as the Allegheny County Council liaison to the Airport Authority. He was also appointed to the Technical Advisory Committee for the Allegheny County Airport 20 Year Master Plan.
In addition to his activities locally and for Allegheny County, Bob serves on the Regional Trail Corporation Board of Directors.
