A medically-oriented comprehensive rehabilitation hospital providing services to severely injured and chronically disabled adults. Programs include: stroke, amputee, spinal cord, general rehabilitation, chronic pain, head injury, hand rehabilitation, and occupational health and rehabilitation services. A total person approach is used in helping patients achieve their maximum level of independence through diagnosis and treatment by a team of specialists, including medical, nursing, physical, and occupational therapies, communication skills, speech/language and audiology, social service, psychology, vocational and educational services, driver evaluation and training, recreational therapy, nutritional services, orthotics and prosthetics, home management, and patient/family education. Programs for stroke patients: mid-life program provides return-to-work services and special counseling; elder stroke program enables patients to return to a level of independence at home.
