Fact: Babies cry.
Crying is normal for babies. This can be their way of communicating. They can't talk to you, so they cry when they are hungry, tired, hot, cold, wet, or when they are having gas pains, or are in any way uncomfortable.
Many babies cry a lot, even when there doesn't seem to be anything wrong. This doesn't mean that you are a bad parent, or that they hate you or that they are crying to annoy you. Babies can't reason that way.
Remember
to try to stay calm and talk to the baby in a quiet, soothing voice.
Never shake a baby. Babies' heads are large in comparison to the rest
of their bodies and their neck muscles are weak. Shaking a baby for even a
second or two can cause blindness, mental retardation, seizures, hearing loss,
paralysis, even death. It is better to put the baby in a crib, and walk
away for a few minutes if you are feeling too stressed.
