| ALLEGHENY HOME RULE CHARTER AMENDMENT SPECIAL ELECTION QUESTION |
| Shall the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter be amended to: a) replace the Clerk of Courts, Jury Commissioners, Prothonotary and Register of Wills with an appointed Director of Court Records; b) replace the Coroner with an appointed Medical Examiner, retaining all powers enumerated in 16 Pennsylvania Statutes Sections 4232-4248; and c) replace the Recorder of Deeds with an appointed Real Estate Manager; each appointment by the County Manager commencing upon expiration of the elected officials’ current term? |
| Explanation of Ballot Question |
| If this question is approved by a majority of those voting, the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter will be amended. The elected offices of Clerk of Courts, Jury Commissioners, Prothonotary and Register of Wills shall be abolished and be replaced with an appointed Director of Court Records. The elected Coroner shall be abolished and be replaced with an appointed Medical Examiner. The elected Recorder of Deeds shall be abolished and be replaced with an appointed Real Estate Manager. The above elected offices shall exist until expiration of their current terms. The above - mentioned appointments shall be made by the County Manager, except for the Medical Examiner. The Medical Examiner shall be appointed by the County Chief Executive. |
