Minimum Requirements:
A Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration/Management, Social Work, or a related degree, AND Five (5) years of experience in social work/corrections program management . Knowledge of collaborative efforts, correctional security, and program policies preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. |
Duties:
- Plans, organizes, and coordinates program activities to meet reentry goals.
- Reports to Warden and the Jail Collaborative on the short and long term measures of success and recommends changes in strategy as necessary.
- Recommends policies to the Jail Collaborative and communicates to service providers and volunteers (who work with inmates, ex-offenders, and their families) those policies that the Collaborative has approved.
- Reports to Warden, Jail Collaborative, and funders on program results and policies.
- Supervises the leadership team (coordinators of each reentry program and other Jail and/or community staff).
- Reviews and approves the training program for reentry programs staff (new staff as well as continuing professional development).
- Prepares department budget proposals, contracts and MOUs related to reentry, and requests for expenditures for the Warden’s approval and action.
- Monitors program’s financial health and makes recommendations to Warden and Jail Collaborative.
- Evaluates independently and through others’ feedback, activities that are key to sustaining the program.
- Analyzes feedback of community surveys and other evaluative data to recommend to Warden and Jail Collaborative changes to improve reentry programs and processes; implements approved changes through Leadership Team.
- Builds funder and community-wide understanding and support for initiatives that improve reintegration.
- Assists Warden and Jail Collaborative in serving as spokesperson/advocate for reentry and in explaining to the public the importance of reentry to public safety.
- Assists Warden and Jail Collaborative in communicating strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness of program.
- Communicates with community groups and assists Jail Collaborative to strengthen and expand the coalition of supporters and volunteers.
- Monitors trends, legislation, and regulations relevant to the program’s mission and makes program and advocacy recommendations to Jail Collaborative and its committees.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Warden.

Residency: Must become a resident of Allegheny County within one (1) year of appointment.
Veteran's Preference: Will be awarded to eligible candidates.
