Onorato to Hold Town Hall Meeting Regarding North Park This Saturday
(May 7 2008)
Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato will hold a town hall meeting from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at the North Park Rose Barn on Pierce Mill Road to discuss his County Parks Action Plan and to ask for public input on future improvements to North Park.“Our goal is to transform Allegheny County’s nine regional parks into one of the finest park systems in the country,” said Onorato. “Saturday’s meeting is a great opportunity for residents to provide comments on our County parks and share their thoughts on programming, recreational and facility needs.”
Onorato unveiled a County Parks Action plan last year to address 20 years of deferred maintenance and to transform and enhance recreational opportunities at the County’s nine regional parks. The plan includes the establishment of the Allegheny County Parks Foundation, an independent, non-profit organization that will raise private funds for park improvements.
“We have tremendous opportunity to raise private dollars and generate revenue from park assets to help with renovation of facilities and development of recreational programs,” added Onorato.
Onorato encourages residents who cannot attend Saturday’s town hall meeting to review the County Parks Action Plan and take the online parks survey at www.alleghenycounty.us/parks.
The North Park meeting is the seventh of nine town halls regarding Onorato’s Parks Action Plan. The final two meetings are in South Park on May 17 and Round Hill Park on June 10.
