PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County Public Works today announced that traffic on Browns Hill Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction beginning the week of Jan. 4, 2010, weather permitting. The restrictions will occur as needed over the next two months while the contractor installs new conduit for traffic signals and places new concrete pavement. Signage will alert motorists to the ongoing lane restrictions.

The Allegheny County Department of Public Works maintains 810 lane-miles of road, more than 520 bridges, and more than 12,000 acres of parkland and related facilities. In addition, the Department maintains and improves building infrastructure and ensures the safety and reliability of the County’s vehicle fleet and heavy equipment.
On November 28, 2007, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works became the first public works agency in Pennsylvania to be accredited by the American Public Works Association. It is only the 46th agency in North America to have earned this prestigious award.
