Allegheny County Recognizes Kane’s Efforts during Storms

Allegheny County Council presented a Certificate of Recognition honoring the Kane Regional Centers’ staff for their efforts to continue offering complete care and service during the severe snowstorms in February.

“This proclamation is a tribute to the hard-working and dedicated staff at all four of the Kane Regional Centers,” Kane Executive Director Dennis Biondo said. “The snowstorms caused problems for everyone throughout the county and created challenges at Kane. Our staff continued to provide quality care to our residents despite the circumstances.”

The proclamation was made during the Allegheny County Council meeting on March 16 and it read:

“This Certificate of Recognition is awarded to Dennis Biondo, the staff and officials of the Kane Regional Centers for their impressive, dedicated efforts to continue the operations of the facilities during and after what would become one of the largest snow storms in our county’s history in the month of February 2010. Because of their commitment to the senior citizens of our county and their willingness to provide their services, citizens continued to be treated and cared for during these tumultuous storms. We applaud them for exuding much effort to help our county to continue to function properly.”

Not only did the four Kane Regional centers in Glen Hazel, McKeesport, Ross Township and Scott Township continue to operate during the devastating February snowstorms, the McKeesport Center temporarily took in four residents, including three women who were more than 90 years old, from a nearby hospice that had lost power to part of its facility.
