Administrator Assistant Marian Krivacek has retired after nearly two-and-a-half decades at Kane McKeesport. Krivacek, who resides in Duquesne, worked her last day on Monday, April 26.
“I have truly enjoyed my time at Kane,” said Krivacek, who began working for Allegheny County in 1985, first during an eight-month stay at Kane Glen Hazel before she moved to the McKeesport facility. “The residents and our employees have made my time here special. The volunteers we have are wonderful too. We have a great group of volunteers. It’s like a family here at Kane McKeesport.”
Krivacek was the assistant to Kane McKeesport Administrator Charlene Flaherty.
“Marian has been a valuable asset to Kane McKeesport,” Flaherty said. “She is a dedicated and efficient employee, but more importantly, a friend to all of us here. She always put the residents first. We will miss her and we wish her well during her retirement.”
Krivacek worked in a variety of positions for the county, including human resources and in the payroll department before she became an administrative assistant.
“In this job you’re involved in everything that goes on in the building in which the administrator is involved,” Krivacek said. “There are a lot of meetings and there’s a lot of contact work on the telephone. There are a lot of one-on-one discussions. There is a lot of paperwork and a lot of PR. I like to have contact with the patients and volunteers.”
Krivacek said she intends to spend more time with her husband, Phil, and their family, which includes her daughter, two step-children and six grandchildren.
“I plan to travel a little bit. I will see family more,” Krivacek said. “I want to have some fun and spend more time with my family and friends that I haven’t been able to keep in contact with for a while.”
