PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County Public Works today announced that contractors hired by the U.S. Office of Surface Mining have begun work to repair the sinkhole on Monroeville Trestle Road/Center Road in Plum.

Crews are placing stone and gravel in the sinkhole and compacting it to establish a solid foundation. Once that is completed, the roadway will be repaved. There is currently no timeline for completion, but the County will keep the public informed on repair progress.

Monroeville Trestle Road/Center Road will remain closed and detours will remain in place until the road is fully repaired. Traffic heading north must turn right onto Old Frankstown Road then left onto Pierson Run Road and then left onto Saltsburg Road (Route 380). Traffic heading south is following the detour in reverse.

The U.S. Office of Surface Mining is coordinating repairs and will cover all costs associated with the project.
