Kane McKeesport Bowlers Participate in Special Olympics Event

 
 

The John J. Kane Regional Center in McKeesport was well-represented during the recent Special Olympics Allegheny County Singles Bowling Tournament at AMF Mount Lebanon Lanes.

The eight Kane McKeesport bowlers combined to take home five gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze. Of more importance, the Kane participants shared in a day of friendly competition and camaraderie.

“The Special Olympics bowling event is something our residents look forward to each year,” said Ken Schmigel, Kane McKeesport Recreation Therapy Supervisor. “Everyone is a winner at this event. It’s so rewarding watching the Olympians and seeing the enthusiasm and sense of accomplishment on their faces.”

Five of the Kane McKeesport bowlers at the Special Olympics Allegheny County event were Margaret Frena, Mathew Geracitano, Doris Davis, Mattie Wilson and Karen Coulter.
