PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Court Records today announced that marriage license applications may now be completed online at www.alleghenycounty.us/wo/plan.aspx. An email address is required. This new online service quickens step one of the marriage license process since the application will be completed before a couple arrives in the office. In fact, completing the application online will reduce by two-thirds the amount of time a couple will spend in the Marriage License Bureau.
After completing the online application, both applicants must appear together in person with photo identification at the Marriage License Bureau to complete the process. The Marriage License Bureau is located on the First Floor of the City-County Building at 414 Grant Street in Downtown Pittsburgh. The office is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is closed on holidays.
Once the online marriage license application has been submitted, the couple has appeared in person at the Marriage License Bureau, and the three-day waiting period required by state law has passed, the marriage license may be mailed at no extra cost to an address provided by the couple, if requested. The license may also be picked up at the Marriage License Bureau. Additionally, the Department of Court Records is also offering an online search and order service for marriage records it holds. An email address and credit or debit card are required.
