PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County 9-1-1 reports that the Verizon wire line/landline telephone problems that were noted this morning have been resolved. Verizon network operations technicians restored the trunks around 8 a.m. morning, and customers in those areas are able to reach 9-1-1 with a landline phone.
Circuits from a Verizon network facility in West Mifflin that connect directly to Allegheny County 9-1-1 failed around 1:15 a.m. this morning. As a result, people in Duquesne, McKeesport and West Mifflin served out of that network facility were unable to reach 9-1-1 with a landline phone for a period of time. Wireless service was not impacted. Customers in those areas did not lose phone service, only the ability to reach 9-1-1 through a landline phone.
Verizon technicians are continuing to monitor the circuits to ensure that they are stable and that no other issues occur.
