Hartwood StablesFacilities & Features:

Hartwood Mansion

Hartwood is an Allegheny County Park consisting of 629 acres. Preserved within the park is one of the largest and most spectacular country estates in the region. Hartwood consists of a stately Tudor Mansion (erected in 1929) cottage, stable complex and gate lodge (erected in 1927). Designed by Alfred Hopkins for John and Mary Flinn Lawrence, the mansion houses an excellent collection of original English and American antiques. Its 16th century architectural design affords both young and old opportunity to glimpse into a part of Pittsburgh's past.

Not surprisingly, a large part of Hartwood's charm lies in its scenic setting. Reflect upon a time of elegance and style while strolling through the formal gardens.

Hike or horseback along its wooded trails or cross country ski depending on the season. Visit the farm and stable complex, appreciate the sculptures or see a concert under the stars.

Hartwood is full of possibilities. Whether you are a teacher, student, with a corporation or tour group, Hartwood has something special for everyone.

Keep "Christmas at Hartwood" forever on DVD for only $12. Purchase at the Mansion, or online at World Wide Web Icon2 Dead Crew Productions

Trail Maintenance Day
Meeting place changed!
Meet - Mansion parking lot
PTAG's experienced crew leaders will be on hand to direct the volunteers as we work together to improve the drainage and fix troublesome wet spots on the trails. Volunteers should bring work gloves, eye protection and wear sturdy boots. All necessary tools will be provided.

The work session will run from 10:00a.m until 1:00p.m. after which we'll re-group and enjoy cool beverages, compliments of PTAG and County Parks. Then we'll hit the trails for recreational purposes, either on foot and/or on mountain bike, depending on the group's interests. We love working on the trails, but playing on them is even better!

After we work up an appetite playing in the park, we'll head to J.D.'s Pub/Restaurant on the corner of Harts Run Road and Saxonburg Blvd for some free pizza courtesy of the Friends of Hartwood and specially-priced draft beer. Thanks to J.D. and Friends of Hartwood for supporting the Hartwood volunteers!
