Right-of-Way Management and Permits
Permits
Overload/Oversize Permit - required for transporting oversized or overweight loads on the County’s roadway system.
Right of Way Permit Manual - describes the permit process, procedures, standards and methods to be used to perform work within, under or over the County’s Rights-of-Way.
Utility Coordination Initiative
The Allegheny County Utility Coordination Initiative is intended to establish a website through which information is accessible to all parties potentially affected by utility and infrastructure projects. Allegheny County maintains 810 lane-miles of road, more than 520 bridges, and more than 12,000 acres of parkland and related facilities.
In an effort to better coordinate projects among municipalities and utility service providers, the Department of Public Works implemented the use of Envista, a web-based project coordination application. Using Envista optimizes the construction planning process, reduces street cuts, saves on paving costs, and lessens the impact on neighborhoods and commuters during the paving and construction season.
Envista will enable public viewers to access information about Allegheny County’s projects through an interactive map. Envista software has previously been implemented in a variety of municipalities, including Baltimore, Norfolk, and Sacramento.
