The motto "To Serve with Honor" guides Allegheny County Police officers every day as we serve residents and visitors alike. Our patrol areas include the Pittsburgh International Airport, the Allegheny County Airport, and nine county parks. Allegheny County Police investigate all criminal activity which occurs on county-owned property, while providing investigative services and other assistance to local, state, and federal agencies.

About the Police Department

The Allegheny County Police Department is comprised of over 210 officers and 15 civilians, all under the supervision of Superintendent Christopher Kearns.

The Detective Division includes General Investigations, Homicide, and Narcotics which provide investigative services to all of Allegheny County as well as assistance to local, state, and federal agencies.

The Uniform Division is responsible for maintaining public safety at the Pittsburgh International Airport, Allegheny County Airport, and nine County Parks. The department also has several specialty units comprised of officers from the Patrol and Detective Divisions.

Mission

The mission for every member of the Allegheny County Police Department is to consistently seek and find ways to affirmatively promote, preserve, and deliver, security, safety, and productive quality services to the people of Allegheny County.

The Allegheny County Police Department exists for the purpose of maintaining social order through prevention, deterrence, and prosecution within prescribed ethical and constitutional limits; developing a sense of personal security within Allegheny County, by public knowledge and assurance that timely emergency and professional assistance will be rapidly dispatched when needed; providing effective services to the citizens of Allegheny County while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and efficiency; enhancing public confidence by continual development of positive, proactive public relations involving all department employees to encourage the spirit of cooperation between the Allegheny County Police and the people of Allegheny County.
