American Public Works Association (APWA) accreditation logo Public Works is responsible for the maintenance of 408 miles of roadway and 518 bridges within Allegheny County, and it also purchases and maintains the county’s fleet of more than 800 vehicles and heavy equipment. By continually exceeding industry performance standards, the department has been accredited four times by the American Public Works Association (APWA) since 2007 and is the first in Pennsylvania to have received the prestigious honor.
