The Department of Sustainability has reduced carbon footprint of Allegheny County through increased waste diversion, energy and water efficiency efforts, renewable energy purchases and installations, conversion of fleet vehicles and equipment to alternative fuels, sustainable procurement, encouraging sustainable development, and more. As a core focus within the county government, the Department of Sustainability has a variety of sustainability initiatives and a diverse range of projects that drive change towards a greener future.
