Children's Cabinet
The Children’s Cabinet is a community advisory body of representative stakeholders engaged in strengthening Allegheny County’s child and family-serving systems. The Cabinet provides guidance to and supports coordination among the many organizations and systems of care that have a role in helping children and families get the services and supports they need to thrive. This has included valuable input for the Improving Outcomes for Children and Families Initiative and the Title IV-E Waiver Child Welfare Demonstration Project. The group is led by Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) Director Erin Dalton and meets on a quarterly basis.
The Children’s Cabinet will:
- Advise Allegheny County on issues affecting children and families
- Inform, review, and make recommendations to the annual submission of the Allegheny County Needs Based Plan and Budget (NBPB)
- Assist in the coordination and continuous improvement of initiatives and services for children and families
- Monitor progress towards DHS’s goals for children and families
- Guide planning, coordination, and operationalization of quality services for children and families
