Allegheny County Courthouse Complex

While most weddings and special events take place at the courthouse, the Allegheny County Courthouse Complex is actually comprised of three unique venue options: the Allegheny County Courthouse, Family Court (formerly the courthouse jail annex), and the County Office Building. Nonprofit organizations are eligible for a discounted rental rate.

County Office Building Lobby

Completed in 1931, the County Office Building was designed by Stanley L. Roush. Stanley is also known for designing Pittsburgh’s iconic Sister Bridges: the Roberto Clemente Bridge, Andy Warhol Bridge and Rachel Carson Bridge. The lobby features vaulted ceilings, marble floors, and an inlaid bronze county seal.

Family Courthouse Courtyard

Also known as the old Allegheny County Jail (former jail annex), the Family Courthouse Courtyard is a National Historic Landmark designed by famed architect H. H. Richardson. The jail was built by the Norcross Brothers between 1884 and 1886. The courtyard has beautiful ivy that grows along the building, providing the perfect greenery backdrop.

This outdoor event space features a newly installed children’s playground, a granite memorial honoring the local soldiers who served in Vietnam, and beautiful wrought iron gates. These feature make it the ideal location for birthdays, corporate events, fundraisers, and other special occasions
