ACJ Celebrates Two Foundation of HOPE Graduations Published on April 30, 2026 Men’s graduation took place on Tuesday, April 28, on 2C. A total of 27 men graduated from the program, and HOPE staff member Rodger Jay gave the featured speech. Graduates also had the opportunity to share reflections with the group. Women’s graduation occurred on Wednesday, April 29, on 6D. Eight women graduated from the program and also had the opportunity to share their experiences. Judy Olive
Volunteers Honored at Second Annual Appreciation Dinner Published on April 27, 2026 On the evening of April 21, jail leadership hosted its second annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner to honor all of those who give of themselves to provide services to those who are housed inside the facility.
ACJ Holds Community Resource Fair Published on April 24, 2026 ACJ Unit Manager LaShaun Davis, with significant assistance from Re-Entry Services Community Coordinator Supervisor Tamara Harris, organized a Community Resource Fair for the incarcerated population. The fair took place on Monday, April 21 and included 20 vendors with nearly 200 incarcerated attendees.

ACJ Announces ServSafe, Restaurant Ready Training Collaboration Published on April 16, 2026 Incarcerated enrollees join an educational cohort that lasts six weeks and earn their ServSafe food handler and Restaurant Ready certifications that are designed to lead to job opportunities in the food and hospitality industries following release. Both men and women are eligible for classes that are held twice weekly in the jail’s educational and re-entry areas.
Dixie Comes to the Jail as Xavier Finds Forever Home Published on April 13, 2026 Dixie is a one-year-old mixed-breed female who arrived on Wednesday, April 8. Evaluators described her as a social, yet sometimes nervous dog who could “benefit from positive reinforcement training.” She is approximately 40 pounds, walks well on a leash and enjoys and solicits pets.
ACAR Summit Brings Together Re-Entry Participants and Providers Published on April 07, 2026 The coalition’s annual summit took place on Friday, March 13, 2026, at CCAC main campus on Pittsburgh’s North Side. ACAR usually holds its summit in April to coincide with “Second Chance Month,” but the team chose to hold the summit earlier with the NFL Draft looming later this month.
Bishop Eckman Visits ACJ for Mass and Foot-Washing Ceremony Published on April 06, 2026 Bishop Mark Eckman of the Diocese of Pittsburgh made his first trip to the Allegheny County Jail on Holy Thursday to hold Mass and wash the feet of incarcerated individuals.
