1st Home Allegheny Program

Now Accepting Applications
The 1st Home Allegheny Program helps eligible first-time homebuyers purchase a home in Allegheny County by providing loan assistance of $10,000 or $45,000, depending on household income.
The program is funded through $2.6M from the Allegheny County Residential Finance Authority and may be used to cover closing costs and the down payment.
The first step to apply is to complete an application with one of the participating lending institutions.
Program Guidelines and Eligibility
Applicants must meet the requirements including and not limited to the following:
- Must be in Allegheny County (excluding the City of Pittsburgh)
- First-time homebuyers (not owned a home in the last 3 years)
- Household income below 80% or 115% of Area Median Family Income
- Pre-approved for a primary mortgage
- Contribute minimum $1,000 or 1% of purchase price
- Maintain less than $40,000 in non-excluded assets
- Complete a HUD-certified homebuyer education program
- Have a minimum of two months worth of mortgage payments in reserve

Loan Structure
- Administered by the Allegheny County Residential Finance Authority
- Loan Cap: $10,000 or $45,000 based on household income
- Loan Type: Forgivable loan
- Loan Term: 6 years
- Use: Closing costs and down payment
- Position: Subordinate to the bank loan
