Shared Housing and Resource Exchange (SHARE) Program

The Shared Housing and Resource Exchange (SHARE) program is an affordable housing initiative that connects homeowners with individuals seeking housing. Homeowners may share their homes in exchange for financial contribution, assistance with household tasks, or a combination of both.

Each arrangement attempts to meet the unique needs and preferences of the individuals involved. Homeowners can benefit from companionship, help with daily tasks, and additional financial support, enabling many older adults to remain in their homes and communities.

Finding the Right Match

The program facilitates the matching process by connecting Hosts (homeowners) with compatible Sharers (home seekers) based on lifestyle, preferences, and needs.

Process includes:

  • Verifying one matched individual is over 60 years old
  • Interviews
  • Background Checks
  • Compatibility Assessments

SHARE also provides ongoing support through assistance with creating agreements, helping resolve conflicts, and conducting regular check-ins to ensure the arrangement continues to work well for both parties.
