HOPE board member Rodger Jay was the featured speaker at the men's graduation.

The Foundation of HOPE held men’s and women’s graduations last week at the Allegheny County Jail.

Men’s graduation took place on Tuesday, April 28, on 2C. A total of 27 men graduated from the program, and HOPE staff member Rodger Jay gave the featured speech. Graduates also had the opportunity to share reflections with the group.

Women’s graduation occurred on Wednesday, April 29, on 6D. Eight women graduated from the program and also had the opportunity to share their experiences. Judy Oliver gave the featured address.

The HOPE Pre-Release program is a vital part of ACJ’s goal to give incarcerated individuals the tools they need to improve their lives in positive ways when they are released. Participants live together on the HOPE pod and take part in 60 hours of evidence-based classes.

After graduating, they can remain on the pod as group leaders and mentors, while taking graduate-level classes.
