Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) provides publicly funded social services to people across Allegheny County and is the largest human services funder in the region. Each year, DHS serves more than 200,000 residents through a network of over 300 community-based organizations.

DHS’s work includes child welfare, family strengthening and youth services, homelessness and housing, behavioral health care, supports for people with intellectual disabilities or autism, and services for older adults.

Vision

To create an accessible, culturally competent, integrated and comprehensive human services system that ensures individually tailored, seamless and holistic services to Allegheny County residents, in particular, the county's vulnerable populations.

Values

The Allegheny County Department of Human Services supports people during difficult times and steps in when support is needed most. Using a “no wrong door” approach, DHS works to make sure that whenever someone reaches out for help, those individuals are connected to the services and support they need.
