Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee

The Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee advises the County Executive, County Council and the administration of the Office of Children, Youth and Families (CYF) on the office’s needs, budget and resources for the provision of services in Allegheny County. 

The Committee helps strengthen connections between CYF, service providers and the community while supporting planning and oversight related to services for children, youth and families. Its presence is mandated by Section 3130 of the Pennsylvania Code. 

The Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee supports DHS by: 

  • Advising on the needs and priorities of children, youth and families
  • Providing feedback on services, resources and community concerns 
  • Supporting planning related to the CYF budget and service system
  • Helping strengthen relationships with providers and community partners
  • Recommending improvements to supports and services available to families
