County Police Charge Corrections Officer with Bringing Contraband into County Jail
(PITTSBURGH) - County Police have arrested a corrections officer for bringing illegal narcotics into the Allegheny County Jail.
On December 30, 2023, Allegheny County Police were notified that an Allegheny County Jail corrections officer was suspected of bringing multiple items of possible contraband into the jail. Officers initiated an investigation and discovered approximately one ounce of marijuana in a locker belonging to corrections officer William Kemp III. Through surveillance video, it was also determined Kemp (34) removed 23 pages of paper soaked in synthetic cannabinoids from his person and left them in an employee bathroom. Those items were recovered by officers a short time later. Investigators determined Kemp brought the narcotics into the jail with the intent to deliver them to inmates in the facility.
Kemp is charged with two counts of contraband, possession, and possession with intent to deliver. He was taken into custody and arraigned Thursday morning and is currently being held on $10,000.00 cash bail.
