Ballot Return Sites

Ballot return sites are staffed locations where registered voters who received a mail-in or absentee ballot can return ballots in person, directly to a county employee.

Voters may only return their own ballot unless they have completed an authorization form to return a ballot on behalf of someone who physically is unable to do so. For individuals requiring assistance in voting or returning a ballot, contact the Elections Division at 412-350-4500.

Ballot return sites are open the final few days before Election Day, after the deadline to request a mail-in ballot has passed. This is an important service for voters, as relying on mail service to deliver a ballot to the Elections Division in the week before Election Day is not recommended.

Satellite Voting Locations

Satellite voting locations provide a more comprehensive range of services where registered voters can request a mail-in ballot, complete and return it, all in one place (commonly referred to as “over-the-counter” voting).

After the voter registration deadline (October 19, 2026) and the mail-in ballot application deadline (October 27, 2026) have passed, voters may still return a completed ballot at the ballot return locations at the times and dates listed below.

Voters wishing to apply for emergency voting must come to the County Office Building to make a request after those dates.

2026 General Election

In addition to sites operated throughout Allegheny County, the County Office Building will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm for over-the-counter voting and ballot return services leading up to, and including, Election Day from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Satellite Voting and Ballot Return

Satellite election offices will be available to serve voters around the county between Wednesday, October 7, 2026 and Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. At these locations, voters may apply for, receive, vote, and return their mail-in and absentee ballots.

Wednesday, October 7, and Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, a satellite office will be open at:

Saturday October 17, Sunday, October 18, Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, satellite offices will be open at:

Any Allegheny County voter is eligible to vote at any satellite location. Voters in possession of their completed mail-in ballot may also return the ballot at a satellite location.

Reminder: You may only return your own ballot unless you have a completed designated agent form.
