South Park Wave Pool Reopens with a Splash on July 4

PITTSBURGH - The Allegheny County Parks Department today announced that the South Park Wave Pool is officially open for the season as of Thursday, July 4, 2024.

The County recently completed the restoration of the pool, which consisted of extensive structural repairs to the pool walls and floors, a liner which covers the entire interior shell of the wave pool, and replacement of supply line piping, gravity drains, and filter system piping.

“We are thrilled to announce the re-opening of the newly renovated South Park Wave Pool,” said County Executive Sara Innamorato. “This beloved community gem has been revitalized to provide an even better experience for residents and visitors. We look forward to seeing families and friends enjoying this fantastic facility all summer long.”

The South Park Wave Pool opened in 1977 and consists of just under 1 million gallons of water.

Daily hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., weather and conditions permitting. Concessions will also be open daily.

Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more by calling the destination pool at least 24 hours in advance.
