Periodic Lane Closures on East Smithfield Street to Begin on April 9

PITTSBURGH – The Department of Public Works announced today that periodic lane closures on the 1100 block of East Smithfield Street in Elizabeth Township will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. The restrictions will occur between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays, and they are expected to end in October. They are required for drainage improvements.
Drivers can expect to experience short stoppages at work zones, and flaggers will be used to control traffic.
East Smithfield Street is used by an average of 5,338 drivers daily.
The project will be done by A. Folino Construction, Inc., of Oakmont as part of a $5.6 million contract that includes work on eight other roads.
