Public Works Seeks Input for Bridge Project on Spang Road in Marshall

PITTSBURGH – The Department of Public Works announced today that it will seek public input online from September 10-24 for an upcoming project to replace Big Sewickley Creek Bridge No. 7, which carries Spang Road near Warrendale Bayne Road in Marshall Township. The input received will help the project team better address concerns and refine project details. When necessary, representatives from Public Works or its consultant, McCormick Taylor, will respond to the questions and concerns received.
The project will involve removal of the existing bridge; construction of a new, wider bridge; approach roadway work, drainage improvements; stream grading, guide rail upgrades; and new signs and pavement markings.
Big Sewickley Creek Bridge No. 7, which was built in 1910, is used by an average of 535 vehicles daily. It has a bridge condition rating of 6 (fair condition) on a 0-9 scale based on National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) established by the Federal Highway Administration.
