Allegheny County Opens Applications for GEDTF Grants
Published on July 21, 2025
(PITTSBURGH) - Allegheny County Economic Development (ACED) has announced that the application window for the next round of Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund (GEDTF) grants will be open from August 4th - 22nd, 2025.
The PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71) as amended established the Pennsylvania Gaming Economic Development and Tourism Fund (GEDTF). Funds appropriated from gaming revenues are deposited with the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for community and economic development projects in Allegheny County. The GEDTF program is administered by the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County (RAAC) and provides financial assistance to municipalities, authorities, councils of government (COGs), and both non-profit and for-profit businesses to support impactful economic development projects. Eligible projects can range from infrastructure upgrades and business development to affordable housing and cultural investments.
72 projects totaling $10,488,574 were awarded in February 2025 as part of the most recent application and award cycle. Funded initiatives span Allegheny County, from affordable housing in Sharpsburg to business support in McKees Rocks. Featured projects include Neighborhood Allies receiving $150,000 to renovate 10 new affordable housing units as part of the “Roots of Faith” project. Tamion Enterprises was awarded $250,000 for infrastructure improvements along the East Hills Drive Gateway, and Mancini’s Bakery Inc. secured nearly $100,000 to purchase equipment and improve their operations in McKees Rocks. These investments are part of a broader effort to build safe, connected, and thriving communities across the county.
As part of the program administration, RAAC provides hands-on technical assistance to applicants throughout the process and works in close coordination with the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to recommend and award grants.
“At a time when local governments across the country are facing challenges like inflation, federal budget cuts, and increasing community needs, the GEDTF program is critically needed,” said Allegheny County Economic Development Director Lauren Connelly. “We are grateful to the Commonwealth Finance Agency and to our State leaders for providing a vital resource that enables grantees to drive growth, develop vibrant and healthy communities, and create opportunities across the County.”
