Rankin Bridge Ramp in Rankin to Close Starting on June 17

PITTSBURGH – The Department of Public Works announced today a Rankin Bridge ramp (Rankin/Braddock exit) between South Braddock Avenue and Kenmawr Avenue/Braddock Avenue in Rankin will close starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024. Also, Kenmawr Avenue will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction between Carrie Furnace Boulevard and Braddock Avenue. Those restrictions are expected to end in December 2024. They are required as part of the ongoing Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp replacement project.

For the ramp closure, eastbound car traffic will be detoured using South Braddock Avenue, Kenmawr Avenue, Talbot Avenue, Fourth Street, and Sixth Street. Westbound car traffic will be detoured using Sixth Street, Talbot Avenue, Fourth Street, and Kenmawr Avenue. Truck traffic will be detoured using South Braddock Avenue, I-376, Ardmore Boulevard (Route 30), Electric Avenue, and Braddock Avenue.

The Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp, Fleet Street between West Braddock Avenue and Maple Way, and Maple Way between Fleet Street and Pattison Avenue have been closed since February 26, 2024, and Line Street has been closed since April 15, 2024 as part of this project. The following detours are in place for those closures:

  • Eastbound Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp vehicle traffic is being detoured using Talbot Avenue, Fourth Street, Sixth Street.
  • Westbound Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp vehicle traffic is being detoured using Fourth Street and Talbot Avenue.
  • Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp pedestrian traffic is being detoured using Braddock Avenue, First Street, and Talbot Avenue.
  • Fleet Street and Maple Way vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured using Holland Avenue, Second Street, Braddock Avenue, First Street, and Talbot Avenue.
  • Line Street vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured using Fleet Street, Holland Avenue, and Second Street.

The $9.3 million project, which is expected to end in fall 2025, is being done by Mosites Construction Company of Robinson. It includes new pavement, sidewalk, curb, drainage, barrier and guide rail, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signage, and pavement markings.
