Board Also Certified February Special Election Results
PITTSBURGH – Today the Allegheny County Board of Elections met to certify results of the February 24, 2026, special election in House District 42. In that special election,12,800 ballots were cast with approximately 26% turnout. Democrat Jen Mazzocco was certified as the winner of the election.
The satellite office and ballot return sites serve the same functionality as they have in the previous few elections. Satellite offices are locations that voters can request a mail-in ballot, vote it on the spot (or take it home) and return it to elections division staff on site – functionally known as “over the counter voting.” That service is also available in the County Office Building as soon as ballots are available, approximately 30 days before the May 19 Election.
Ballot Return Sites are open the final few days before election day (after the deadline to request a mail-in ballot has passed) and only serve the function of being a place where a voter can hand a mail-in ballot to an elections division employee. This is an important service for voters, as relying on mail service to deliver a mail-in ballot back to the elections division that close to Election Day is not recommended.
