Work Completed, Lane Closures End on Glenwood Bridge in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH – The Department of Public Works announced today that the Glenwood Bridge preservation project in Pittsburgh is complete, and the associated lane closures have ended earlier than expected. The lane closures, which started on March 4, 2024, were required for steel, deck, pier, sidewalk, drainage, and approach pavement repairs; barrier and expansion dam replacements; painting; concrete cleaning and sealing; as well as scour and erosion remediation.
Mosites Construction Company of Robinson completed the $8.1 million project.
The 2,276-foot Glenwood Bridge carries state-owned Route 885 over the Monongahela River between the Hazelwood and Hays neighborhoods. An average of 17,497 drivers use it daily.
Prior to this project, the bridge had a condition rating of 5 (fair condition) on a 0-9 scale based on National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) established by the Federal Highway Administration. For more information about bridge condition ratings, visit http:/alleghenycounty.us/bridges.
