Join the fun at the annual SnowFest at Boyce Park! Kids can compete in the Mini-Junior Olympics for skiing and snowboarding, or put engineering skills to the test in the Cardboard Box Snow Tubing Derby. Prizes will be given to the top three participants in each category, and the whole family can enjoy music and free hot cocoa prizes at the Lodge.

  • Participants will register for events on-site at SnowFest beginning at 9:30 am. Advanced registration is not required. The registration fee is $10 ticket per event for each participant.
  • A snow tubing ticket is not required to participate in the Cardboard Box Derby.
  • Lift tickets for the ski slopes must be purchased separately.

Events are weather-permitting and in the event of inclement weather, please check the Allegheny County Parks Facebook page for updates.

Mini-Junior Olympics

Youth ages 5-12 can compete in ski and snowboard races down the Boyce Park Slopes. The course is set up on the beginners slope, with a basic single-slalom course with gates. Each participant will get two timed runs. All participants must sign a waiver(PDF, 138KB).

Cardboard Box Snow Tubing Derby

Participants will pre-construct a sled made of cardboard and duct tape and race down the snow tubing hill, so save boxes from holiday gifts to craft a carboard snow tube!

The Boyce Park Ski Patrol must approve all sleds for use. All participants must be at least 50” tall and sign a waiver(PDF, 138KB). A parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver for participants ages 17 and under.
