Adopt-a-Roadway Program

A family helping to clean up litter along a county roadway

Welcome to the Allegheny County Adopt‐a‐Roadway Program. The purpose of this program is to provide organizations, corporations, groups, and individuals an opportunity to help keep county‐owned roadways trash free. We ask adopters to organize cleanup events at least twice a year. In return, Allegheny County will post recognition signs along the adopted roadway, giving you or your group credit for your efforts.

This program is for county-owned roads only. To adopt a state-owned road, visit PennDOT’s Adopt-a-Highway Program. Don’t know which entity owns the road you want to adopt? Visit Who Owns My Road.

General Program Information

There must be at least one adult (18 or older) per eight minors (17 and under). Minors must have parental permission.

Spring and fall events registered through Pick Up Pennsylvania are eligible for free work gloves, safety vests, and trash bags while supplies last.
