Solid Waste Management Plan

Allegheny County Solid Waste Management Plan — Revision

Act 101, the Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling and Waste Reduction Act, requires counties to revise their Municipal Solid Waste Management Plans every ten years.

The purpose of the revision process is to:

  • Confirm municipal waste disposal capacity for the next ten years
  • Discuss alternate waste processing and/or disposal
  • Ensure maximum feasible waste reduction and recycling
  • Find ways to better conserve resources
  • Continue to examine ways to protect the public health, safety, and welfare from dangers of processing and disposing of municipal waste.

The Allegheny County Solid Waste Management Plan Revision 2019 was approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection on July 15, 2019.
