Fifteen New Correctional Officers Sworn In at ACJ
Published on September 08, 2025
The Allegheny County Jail has 15 new correctional officers after the latest cadet class graduated and was sworn in on Friday, Aug. 29.
Family members, Allegheny County Jail staff and other invited guests joined graduates inside the Contact Visits Room at the jail as the newest cadets graduated and took the oath to become correctional officers.
Sgt. Randy Justice led the cadets through the often demanding, sometimes grueling, nine-week program during which cadets must successfully complete a physical agility test, classroom work and other training.
Magisterial District Court Judge James Hanley swore in the new officers and congratulated them on their achievement.
Warden Trevor Wingard and Chief Deputy Warden Lee Estock also congratulated the new officers and offered some words of advice.
The graduation ceremony ended with a luncheon for the cadets and their families.
Anyone interested in applying to be a correctional officer, or in filling any of the additional career opportunities at the jail can visit the ACJ Careers page.
