Evaluation and Response

Commissions are created to address a specific issue that impacts the entire county. They assess challenging topics and devise uniform policies, practices, and procedures in response. Allegheny County includes four commissions: the Accountability, Conduct and Ethics Commission (ACE), the Government Review Commission (GRC), the Human Relations Commission (HRC), and the Public Health Commission (PHC), as well as the Independent Police Review Board.

ACE Commission

The ACE Commission provides a vehicle for the receipt and investigation of complaints regarding alleged unethical behavior by county officials and employees.

Government Review Commission

The Government Review Commission (GRC) studies and provides recommendations on the Home Rule Charter and county government.

Human Relations Commission

The Human Relations Commission assures that all persons enjoy the full benefits of citizenship and are afforded equal opportunities for employment, housing and use of public accommodation.

Independent Police Review Board (IPRB)

The Independent Police Review Board (IPRB) has the authority to receive and review allegations of misconduct filed by a person against police officers employed by Allegheny County.

Juvenile Detention Advisory Board

Public Health Commission
