Internships

The Allegheny County Health Department provides learning opportunities for students enrolled in a variety of academic programs.

Internships are generally available on a semester basis (spring, fall, and summer). All current internship opportunities are listed below. Eligibility for an internship at ACHD requires that the applicant be actively enrolled in a college or University with which we have a Master Affiliation Agreement.

When available, the Health Department accepts applications from students enrolled at:

  • Carnegie Mellon University
  • Chatham University
  • Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC)
  • Duquesne University
  • Kent State University
  • Pittsburgh Technical College
  • Robert Morris University
  • Slippery Rock University
  • University of Pittsburgh
  • West Chester University

Clinical Learning Experiences

The Allegheny County Health Department provides clinical learning experiences for undergraduate nursing students and graduate students pursing a masters of science in nursing.

The Health Department is currently accepting applications for clinical learning experiences from students enrolled at:

  • Carlow University
  • Carnegie Mellon University
  • Chatham University
  • Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC)
  • Duquesne University
  • Kent State University
  • Pittsburgh Technical College
  • Robert Morris University
  • Slippery Rock University
  • University of Pittsburgh

National Health Corps Pittsburgh

The National Health Corps (NHC) Pittsburgh is a program of the National Health Corps AmeriCorps program. Since 1994, NHC Pittsburgh has been managed through the Health Department, which fosters collaboration between members and agencies throughout the Pittsburgh area.

NHC Pittsburgh is committed to decreasing disparities in local healthcare delivery systems and promoting health. NHC Pittsburgh collaborates with a broad range of sites to ensure members are exposed to diverse opportunities in public health.
