Official Request for Information

Official document or material requests may be submitted for review and consideration.  Examples of “official requests” include requests from law enforcement agencies, law firms, insurance companies, probation offices, government offices, etc.

The Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner will remain sensitive to the privacy issues of victims, suspects, decedents, and their families, maintaining the integrity of investigations performed by law enforcement agencies, or other investigative bodies while still providing the access to relevant requested information. All requests will be evaluated, and the requestor will be notified for both approvals and denials. 

Requests may also require a legal review.  Please be sure to complete the information required in its entirely as well as attached any necessary documents such as request on official letterhead, subpoenas, or court orders. Providing as much information as possible will allow for the request to be processed most efficiently.   If additional information is necessary, the requestor will be contacted. 

Once a request is approved, the requestor will be contacted and provided an invoice for all required fees.  Materials will not be provided until the invoice has been paid.

Next of Kin (NOK) Requests
