Traveler's Advice

Pittsburgh International Airport

If you are planning to travel through the Pittsburgh International Airport, these tips may help you during the airport security process:

Plan to arrive at least two hours prior to your flight time for domestic flights, three hours for international flights, to allow for processing and extra security measures.

Be aware that only authorized law enforcement personnel are permitted to carry firearms within the airport buildings. No firearm permits are honored once arriving at the TSA security checkpoint.

If you need to ship a firearm aboard an aircraft, please contact your air carrier for specific instructions. Law enforcement personnel on official business that wish to fly armed should contact TSA regarding proper procedures.

Be aware that no one is allowed through the security checkpoint with any prohibited item, i.e., Firearms, Blackjacks, Mace, or Knives of any kind. If you have any questions concerning what is a prohibited item, passengers are encouraged to contact their air carrier or TSA for specific instructions.

Remove all batteries from any battery powered personal items, such as shavers, alarm clocks, etc. to eliminate the possibility of the item powering on when passing through the security checks.
