PITTSBURGHThe Department of Public Works announced today that the northbound shoulder on part of Walter Road between Lake Shore Drive and Tennis Court in North Park will close at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Also, the pedestrian and bicycle lanes on that section of road and a parking lot located along that section will close. The closures, which are expected to end in August 2024, are required for work on Pine Creek North Branch Bridge No. 3. That includes replacement of two concrete barriers, cement repairs, approach roadway work, rock installation, and replacement of guide rail and pavement markings.

Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross the bridge using the shoulder on the west side of the roadway (the side further away from North Park Lake).

Pine Creek North Branch Bridge No. 3 carries an average of 2,227 vehicles daily. It has a bridge condition rating of 6 (fair) on a 0-9 scale based on National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) established by the Federal Highway Administration. The project will be done by Pugliano Construction Company, Inc., of Plum as part of a $2.6 million contract that also includes work on six other bridges.
