County Executive Sara Innamorato and DHS Hosts Community Baby Shower

PITTSBURGH – Earlier today, Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato and the Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS), together with partner organizations, hosted a Community Baby Shower & Resource Fair to celebrate and support new and expecting families from across the county.

The event connected families with resources such as the County’s innovative Hello Baby program that promote healthy pregnancies, early childhood development, and overall family well‑being. It also highlighted County Executive Innamorato’s commitment to expanding Paid Parental Leave—an initiative she has championed to improve outcomes for working families in Allegheny County.

“Paid parental leave is one of the most meaningful ways we can support families during the earliest and most formative moments of a child’s life,” said County Executive Sara Innamorato.  “Investing in this support ensures parents and caregivers can be fully present during critical moments, and that’s a commitment I'm proud to champion.”

“Our team understands how overwhelming these early years can feel, and we’re committed to making it easier for parents to find the support they need,” said Alex Jutca, Director of DHS. “We’re fortunate to have many resources available for new parents, and that’s the beauty of Hello Baby— it offers one place where families can get connected to the right help at the right time.” 

Hello Baby is designed to support every family in Allegheny County, connecting them with resources and services as they navigate life with a new baby. Rather than a single program, Hello Baby offers a coordinated network of supports tailored to each family’s individual needs and interests. Families can visit any of the Family Centers located throughout Allegheny County, where they’ll find welcoming, community-based hubs offering social and recreational opportunities, educational programs, and access to essential items such as food, diapers, formula, and more.
