Skills and Freeride Areas

Grab a bike and head over to the bicycle skills areas and freeride trails in North Park and South Park. These bike areas are designed for riders of all skill levels to develop and advance their techniques on short trails and features. Features and technical obstacles may include jump lines, skinny logs, rock gardens, and drop lines. The North Park bike area also includes a pump track, in addition to the skills area and freeride trails.
Visit the Park Maps webpage to find the most recent trail maps for the Allegheny County Parks, and the Biking, Blades, and Boards webpage for more information about bike riding and action sports in the Allegheny County Parks. For more information about bike riding outside of county parks, local events, and volunteer opportunities, visit TrailPGH. TrailPGH is a dedicated partner of the Allegheny County Parks.

Features
Routes
All bike park routes are designated by color-coded markers at the start of each descent. Bike parks are built to use natural terrain and the difficulty of the trails may vary. Please stay on marked trails and be courteous of everyone's safety and skill level. Riders must follow the existing flow of traffic. The biking area has two types of trails with varying difficulties and layouts.

Freeride Trails
Freeride trails are machine-cut and typically contain numerous man-made features. Routes are enhanced with jumps, ride-on features, gaps, narrow surfaces, wallrides, berms, and other natural or constructed features. Freeride trails are marked with an orange oval and the difficulty rating.

Technical Trails
Technical trails are comprised primarily of the ragged shape and terrain of the natural environment. Routes are typically hand-built and feature obstacles and stunts such as rocks, roots, logs, drops, jumps, and other constructed features that require technical riding skills. Technical trails are marked with a single-colored difficulty rating.
