A Class 1 Food Facility only handles commercially prepackaged, shelf-stable (non-time and temperature controlled for safety) food. Examples of class 1 food facilities are a clothing retailer selling candy, a theater selling only packaged snacks, or a beer store only selling canned/bottled beer and packaged food items.
Class 1 Food Facilities are required to register with the Allegheny County Health Department’s Food Safety Program.
