1-800-490-8505 if you are concerned about the well-being of a person ages 18 to 60 years with a disability. The disability may be physical, intellectual or related to mental illness. Phone lines answer 24 hours a day, every day.
Some concerns that you would call about include suspicions of
- abuse
- neglect
- exploitation
- abandonment
If you report the abuse of a person with a disability, you
- may remain anonymous
- have legal protection from retaliation, discrimination and civil or criminal prosecution
- will be asked to provide
- your name, address, phone (if not anonymous)
- victim's name, address and phone (if not self-reporting)
- demographic data, if available
- description of allegations
- name of alleged perpetrator
- physical/emotional health of victim
- safety concerns
