The County Executive's Office is currently accepting Communications and Social Media Internship applications for Fall 2025. Please see details below. 

The County Executive is the highest elected official in Allegheny County and is responsible for the oversight and operation of 20 departments under the jurisdiction of the executive branch. In addition to providing leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of county government under the authority of the office, the County Executive negotiates, awards, and signs all contracts or other agreements on behalf of the county. The County Executive is responsible for meeting any state of emergency, enforcing ordinances and resolutions of the county, and ensuring that county operations are characterized by excellence, professionalism, efficiency, openness, equity, and integrity.

The Allegheny County Executive Office often seeks creative, hard-working, skilled, and highly collaborative graduate and undergraduate students to help transform Allegheny County government into an accountable, transparent, and responsive force that delivers housing, safety, opportunity, health, and high-quality service to every population, in every neighborhood of the over 100 municipalities included in Allegheny County.

Executive Office Internship - Fall 2025


Communications and Social Media Internship

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute social media content aimed at increasing engagement
  • Assist with the organization and analysis of local press coverage
  • Write constituent certificates of recognition and proclamations
  • Attending press conferences and events with the County Executive
  • Other assignments as needed

Requirements

  • Attending a college or university in Allegheny County
  • Write content with an adaptable voice and tone
  • Be creative, detail-oriented and organized
  • Think strategically and use research to guide the next steps
  • Interested in contributing to the day-to-day of the office responsibilities

Logistics

  • Wages: $ 17.30/hour
  • 12-16 hours/week, September through December (Start and end dates and schedule are flexible to accommodate class schedules)
  • On-site in the Allegheny County Courthouse at 436 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
